The inaugural AR Chess Academy Classical Tournament came to a thrilling end on August 6th, with the final game deciding the overall champion. After seven competitive rounds of classical chess, Mohamed Elhendy emerged as the winner with a strong 6/7 and a performance rating of 1892. He secured the title by defeating top contender Tunar Garayev, who finished in third place with 5.5/7. Athish Balamurugan delivered a strong tournament performance, finishing on 5.5 points and earning a well-deserved 2nd place on tie-breaks.

Category prizes went to Rithiha Balamurugan (4/7) for Best Female and Omar Garayev (5/7) for Best Junior. Congratulations to all the winners!



The tournament, hosted at Al Rissalah International School, brought together a competitive field with a mix of experienced players and emerging talents. The AR Chess Academy thanks all participants, parents, arbiters, and supporters whose efforts made the event possible. This week’s games showed the passion and commitment of the chess community, and the academy is excited to build on this success with more tournaments in the future.
