Round 6 came to a thrilling conclusion, with 10 out of 11 games ending decisively. On Board 1, it was a clash between siblings: Tunar and Omar Garayev. The game began with a Grunfeld Defense, Exchange Variation. Despite White being a pawn up, the players traded down into what appeared to be a completely equal endgame. However, Tunar, playing White, skillfully created weaknesses on the kingside, captured another pawn, and ultimately secured the win.
Mohamed Elhendy extended his winning streak by defeating Shahan Abu Sayeed in a French Defense (Tarrasch Variation). Shahan was left with an isolated queen’s pawn (IQP) but gained some extra space in the center. The critical moment came on move 18, when Black played the committal c5. What would you play as White in this position?

As we head into the 7th and final round of the 1st AR Chess Academy Classical Tournament, it all comes down to the top board clash between Tunar Garayev (5.5/6) and Mohamed Elhendy (5/6).
